County Attorney

The County Attorney’s Office provides legal counsel and advice in civil matters to the Board of Supervisors and other boards, commissions, agencies and officials of the County as directed by the Board.

Duties & Responsibilities
The office does the following:
  • Drafts ordinances and resolutions to implement policy decisions of the Board of Supervisors
  • Prosecutes County code violations
  • Represents the County in litigation
Civil Legal Matters
The civil legal matters handled by the office include, but are not limited to:
  • Constitutional law
  • Construction
  • Contracts
  • Employment disputes
  • Environmental
  • Land use
  • Real estate
  • Specialized areas of law unique to local government such as:
    • Eminent domain
    • Public procurement
  • Taxation

The County Attorney’s Office can not provide legal advice or opinions to citizens and can not represent citizens in personal or private legal matters.
