Duties

The Powhatan County Public Works Department has multiple functions:

• Convenience Center/Solid Waste - Operating the Convenience Center for citizen's recycling and solid waste disposal needs
• Facilities Management - Maintaining all County-owned buildings, grounds and parks
• Utilities - Operating and maintaining water and sanitary sewer service in the Flat Rock area and sanitary sewer service in the Courthouse area of the county

Call Before You Dig

Homeowners and contractors are reminded to call Miss Utility of Virginia by dialing 811 or 800-552-7001 at least 3 working days (excluding weekends and holidays) prior to any excavation project. This is a free service that will help you avoid damaging underground utility infrastructure or potentially making a fatal mistake.
