Residential Structure Permits

Residential Application Requirements

Along with a completed Construction Permit Application you will need the following:

  • All documents must be submitted electronically on a USB
  • The following is a list of required information for a New Residential Dwelling Units.
    • Complete building plans that are drawn to scale and referencing the code they are designed under along with the code year
    • All specifications and calculations for trusses, beams or manufactured wood (LVL, microlam, etc.)
    • Copy of the plat for the property showing existing structures and the proposed structures and distances measured in fee to each property line.  (Front, back, right, and left)
    • VDOT entrance permit or VDOT approval for existing entrance
    • Agreement in Lieu of Plan (AILP) for Erosion and Sediment Control
    • Well and Septic permit issued by the Virginia Health Department (unless you are on public water and sewer in which case other information may be needed)
    • Zoning Compliance Affidavit
    • Affidavit of Exemption from Contractor Licensing when applying as an owner
