Powhatan Pickleball

Powhatan County has embraced the Pickleball craze and offers a variety of programs and facilities to learn, engage, and socialize with this fast-growing sport. Facilities include six lighted outdoor courts and three indoor courts at the Pocahontas Landmark Center, 4290 Anderson Hwy.

For newbies to the sport, Pickleball is best described as a mash-up between tennis, badminton and ping pong, played on a badminton-sized court. The game is played with a perforated plastic ball and wooden/composite/graphite paddle. To learn more, visit USAPA Pickleball

The three rules of Powhatan Pickleball are:

  1. Have Fun!
  2. Look Cool
  3. Protect Your Eyes & Feet
    • It’s recommended to wear eyeglasses or safety glasses and court/tennis shoes that provide comfort, grip, ankle support, rubber soles, and a tread pattern conducive to quick lateral movements.
