Please consider coming out to cheer on participants in this run/walk! This race is a fun- filled, encouraging, blue 1.1 mile course through the village of Powhatan starting in Fighting Creek Park and ending at the Powhatan courthouse starting at 10:00 am on August 26th, 2017.
The race is in memory of Virginia State Police Special Agent Michael T. Walter. Mike was known as a father, husband, son, friend, coach, mentor, neighbor, police officer, special agent, canine trainer, and undercover agent that molded and shaped people he encountered everyday. Mike tragically lost his life May 27, 2017 while attempting to better an at-risk community. Mike will never be forgotten. His memory and his legacy lives on in the community he so affectionately helped and loved. This race is to provide funds for Mike’s children throughout the school year. Proceeds from the race will be used for Mike’s three young children for various school year expenses. Thank you for your support! Kick those back to school blues to the curb and let’s light it up BLUE in Mike’s honor! #belikemike
After the race, contestants will be “hosed off” at Powhatan Volunteer Fire Department Company 1. A dunking both will be at the fire station afterwards as well. Come down and enjoy the fun!
