On Monday, May 17th, Powhatan Volunteer Fire Department (Co. 1) held a memorial bench dedication in honor of lifetime member Carroll Smith’s late wife, Gretchen Smith. As imperative as our volunteers are to the community, so are the volunteer’s families. The time that is sacrificed ensures the departments continued success . Whether a volunteer or a family member of the volunteer, family is family. This wonderful gesture honoring the lifetime commitment of both Carroll and Gretchen, proves the love in this family.
