Powhatan County Receives HEARTSafe Community Designation

Heartsafe

Powhatan County is proud to announce that the we have become certified as a  HEARTSafe Community. Through the combined efforts of the Powhatan County Fire & Rescue Department, the Powhatan County Sheriff's Office, and the Powhatan County Public Safety Communications Department, Powhatan County has become only the fifth jurisdiction in all of Virginia to achieve this designation.

Division Chief of EMS Lori Knowles, from the Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department, presented the designation at the November 27th, Board of Supervisors' meeting. The program examines the delivery of CPR instructions over the phone (from the 9-1-1 operators), the training of all first responders and deputies in CPR and equipping them with Automatic External Defibrillators, and the ability to deliver Advanced Cardiac Life Support Care and transport to hospitals.

We are very glad that we are able to deliver this valuable service to our citizens and visitors of the County! For more information about HEARTSafe Communities, click HERE
